Catch Me if Yukon: A Passport to Peril Mystery
Maddy Hunter. Midnight Ink, $15.99 trade paper (312p) ISBN 978-0-7387-5397-3
Hunter’s diverting 12th Passport to Peril mystery (after Say No Moor) takes the seniors of Windsor City, Iowa, to Alaska. Travel company operator Emily Andrew Miceli and her Swiss husband and partner, Etienne, are shepherding the rambunctious bunch on a trip offering whales, glaciers, hiking, and the like, but Bernice Zwerg, Thor Thorsen, George Farkas, Marion Sippel, and the others are focused on taking selfies and videos to post online and making absolutely sure they’re never late to anything, so when Delpha Spillum doesn’t show up for dinner, eyebrows are raised. A death follows, but it’s not the missing Delpha, and Emily goes into full sleuthing mode, aided and abetted by Etienne and her charges. Each of the many characters manages to stand out, and, as obnoxious as they are, these seniors are a force of nature. Armchair travelers will enjoy spending time with them. Agent: Irene Goodman, Irene Goodman Agency. (Dec.)
