ABC Now You See Me
Kim Siebold. Running Press, $13.95 (14p) ISBN 978-0-7624-4067-2
A padded cover, soothing pastel colors, and pudgy cartoon animals result in an appealing introduction to the alphabet. Capital letters appear on square flaps (four per spread) that resemble building blocks; next to each flap is a chunky, (usually) head-on portrait of an animal that represents that letter. When readers open the flaps, they see the lower-case form of the letter and the name of the animal. Less familiar animals like a newt, iguana, porcupine, and quail should add to youngest readers’ animal repertoire. Ages 4–8. Agent: Jean Sagendorph, Mansion Street Literary Management. (Mar.)
