Cat Dancers
Ron Holiday. Pineapple Press, $16.95 (242pp) ISBN 978-0-910923-35-4
The Holidays met as children in Biddeford, Me., shared an apartment in New York City, became engaged and studied adagio dancing in Paris. Back in the States, they evolved a nightclub act that combined adagio and ballet: in the early '60s they performed at Radio City, the summit of their aspirations, and continued to appear there for the next 11 years. In 1969, they added a black panther to their act and subsequently were called ""cat dancers.'' Much of the book concerns their adventures with their animals as they travel around the U.S.A., Mexico and Canada, starring in circuses as well as clubs, and they discuss problems when their pets are frightened by unthinking outsiders. An entertaining volume of special interest to animal-lovers. Photos not seen by PW. (June)
