Unquiet Ghosts

Kath Kelly Hayes, the narrator of this tortuous tale of greed and violence from Meade (The Last Witness), is the daughter of retired colonel Frank Kelly. Her first husband, Army chopper pilot Jack Hayes, disappeared eight years earlier with their children, Sean and Amy, and all are presumed dead in a plane crash. Her brother, Kyle, returned from duty in Iraq with PTSD and has been largely incapacitated since a failed suicide attempt. When the wreckage of Jack’s plane is located in an isolated spot of the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee, hints appear that he and the children may have survived. An ominous phone call from Jack starts a harrowing journey for Kath as she tries to learn the fate of Sean and Amy and the reason for Jack’s long silence. Meade goes overboard in making a conspiracy involve virtually everyone Kath loves and trusts in this saga of a military family damaged by the horrors of war.
