I’ll Be There

Chase’s satisfying sixth Montgomery Brothers contemporary (after Meant for You) takes an unusual approach to the boss-employee romance. After athlete and business owner Zach Montgomery is critically injured in a climbing accident in Alaska, his assistant, Gabriella Martine, wants to nurse him back to health. But his physical injuries aren’t healing fast enough to suit type-A Zach, and he lashes out at Gabriella and his family in his frustration. Gabriella seems tough as nails, but she’s emotionally vulnerable, and soon she wonders whether she should try to weather the tempests of Zach’s stormy moods or look elsewhere for love. Chase sensitively explores the difficult emotions that arise when an extremely active man realizes that he’s mortal, and she takes a realistic look at falling in love while recovering from a serious injury.
