Reese's Reading Fun: Beginning Words

Chocolate isn't just for eating anymore. In the newest additions to the candy-as-learning-tool book-publishing category, Reese's Reading Fun: Beginning Words and Reese's Pieces Math Fun: Addition 1 to 9, author and illustrator Mary Bono combines spelling and math activities with look-behind-the-flap answers. For example, in Reading Fun, each page highlights a different vowel and as youngsters spin the wheel, consonants fill in the empty spaces on either side to form simple three-letter words. As each word comes into place, under the Reese's peanut butter cup flap a picture of the word appears. In Math Fun, each page has a picture of countable objects (such as eight turtles), one of which has a flap that reveals the answer to the simple addition problems. ( Mar.)
