With an introduction by Jay McInerney and commentary by Tom Ford, Tama Janowitz and Michael Musto, among many others, the more than 500 duotone photos in this mammoth reckoning of New Wave New York captures the Bright Lights, Big City generation. Still getting past all velvet ropes (check his "Scene" column in New York magazine), McMullen was everywhere (Area, Danceteria, Limelight, etc.) and snapped everyone: Basquiat, Burroughs, JFK Jr., Madonna, Mapplethorpe, Iggy, Liza, Yoko, Ozzy, Keith Haring, Karen Black—and many more, all here in not-quite-candid, of-the-moment portraits.
