Ranging through New York and L.A. over much of 2004, Adams set up a plethora of shoots of famous women wearing Klein's clothes, with proceeds from book and photos going to breast cancer research programs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Scarlett Johansson leads off; Cindy Crawford, Paula Zahn, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lauren Bush, Nia Long, Liz Smith, Hilary Rodham Clinton and 82 others follow. Since Adams seems to be after the glowy, stripped down wattage of the staged b&w magazine celeb shot, the photos are not always inspiring, but they are all lovely and competent. Some are full-page bleeds or spreads; others are centered or off-set; most focus on the faces of the famous, rather than on Klein's austerely classic designs, which seem to take second place here.
