The Biggest Lover: Big Boned Men’s Erotica for Chubs and Chasers
R. Jackson. Lethe/Bear Bones (lethepressbooks.com), $18 trade paper (262p) ISBN 978-1-59021-545-6
Jackson’s anthology of 21 titillating quickies covers a variety of genres, but all the stories embrace those who like to live and love large. Dale Chase’s “A Man of Substance” is an appetizing historical about a self-described “Falstaffian” Victorian actor who finds love on the rebound. Ben Bauchlein shows promise in “What the Hell?,” a sexy contemporary story with a surprise ending. Jack Fritscher shares a sweaty glimpse of body envy in his previously published story “Bulk City Gym,” about big-boned musclemen and the men who love them. And William Holden’s cunningly erotic “Moby Dick” is a silly take on the Melville classic that just might make the old master spin in his grave. Stories involve Greek gods (Jay Starre’s “Dionysus Tamed”) and nipple fetishists (Daniel M. Jaffe’s “The Nip Man”) and span the globe from Arabia (Dylan Thomas Good’s “Indivisible”) to London (Matthew Bright’s “Burning on the Edge of the World”) and San Francisco (Karl Taggart’s “The Story Next Door”). Jackson (Bearotica) has assembled a delicious panoply with something for every bear. (Feb.)
