This addition to the Academy series of activity books invites readers to enroll in a coding school. Beginning chapters explain what coding is and why it is important, and compare and contrast different computer languages. Readers are soon asked to practice actual coding by visiting the Scratch platform’s website. For each activity that readers successfully complete—including inventing a dance for an octopus sprite, creating an animated character, and coding a tune—they earn one of the included stickers. Each section concludes with a certificate of accomplishment. Readers new to the world of coding will be at ease with the classlike structure of this workbook. The inclusion of a poster, and cutout game pieces to practice coding concepts, offers an additional, more tangible component. Ages 7–up.[em] (Sept.)
