A Day with Monster

In this companion to Gleiner’s Cheer Up, Monster!, her gray-and-blue felt creation is in a fine mood, ready to tackle the day. After waking up with a big yawn under an orange knit blanket, Monster “eats breakfast, gets dressed, and goes to work.” In the accompanying photos, assorted props give a rough suggestion of Monster’s world—a box of “Flakeys Os” cereal in the morning, and a laptop, notebook, and mug while Monster is at work (wearing a dapper black tie). Whether he’s slurping yarn spaghetti or enjoying a foamy bubble bath, Monster and his expressive, caterpillarlike eyebrows exude charm. Up to age 3. (Sept.)
