Feng Shui

A feng shui teacher trained in China, Shen currently directs an institute dedicated to the cultural exchange between East and West. Feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice based on the idea that every object projects energy into its surroundings. Considered one of the nine healing arts of Taoism, it empha- sizes maximizing positive energy through the strategic placement of objects. In the first section of the book, Shen identifies the origins of this practice in Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. He then describes the two main schools of feng shuithe School of the Form and the School of the Compassand applies their teachings to the strategic placement of doors, furniture, buildings, houses, and gardens. In the third section, Shen does the same for business places. The illustrations are the most outstanding quality of this book, featuring ancient Chinese paintings, modern drawings, charts, graphs, and excellent color photography. Together with the glossary, they greatly contribute to the understanding of a complicated topic.
