Mi Abuelita Tiene Ruedas = My Grandma's Got Wheels
Sylvia Molina. Centro de Informicion, $14.99 (24pp) ISBN 978-968-494-093-2
Gr 3-5-In this delightful story, a young girl named Maria explains to readers why her grandmother is so special. She starts by describing her her forgetfulness, her many flowered dresses, and her tremendous delight in the very same things that delight Maria. She then compares her to the far more objectionable grandmothers of her three friends. There is a grumpy one, one who refuses to speak, and yet another who does nothing but knit and watch television. As Maria describes her days with her Nina, it becomes clear that they have a special relationship. Even her family marvels at her unique ability to soothe her grandmother when she is upset and to guess at her needs. This wonderful story, accompanied by cheerful and entertaining illustrations, will become a story-time favorite. Recommended for all libraries and bookstores.
