Trilby's Trumpet

Trilby is a young bear who adores his trumpet and loves to play it loudly. Older brother Finch gets fed up and hides the instrument from his noisy sibling; readers participate in Trilby's search by lifting the flaps concealed in each illustration. Set in a New England country kitchen, the line drawings with full-color wash are charmingly detailed. The flaps, while sometimes a bit small for little hands, are imaginatively placed, and they often reveal humorous surprises. It adds up to a sweet and inviting book for parent-child sharing.
