Pajamas
Livingston Taylor, Maggie Taylor. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt P, $13.95 (32pp) ISBN 978-0-15-200564-1
A boy who is at first reluctant to put on his pajamas ends up celebrating his bedtime attire. Clean and warm in his pajamas, he still has much to do before going to sleep. He has to run around, stand on his head and scare all the wild animals in his closet. He fades fast once Dad reads him a story. The words of this tale are actually lyrics to a song; Bowers uses acrylics to illustrate the gleeful text: ferocious beasts in the closet are really lovable stuffed animals, and the upside-down view of the room will charm children. The only addition readers may wish for is the inclusion of a cassette tape. Ages 3-6. (September)
