Starting in 1996, a group of Evangelical Christian women began leading national conferences on women's spirituality called Women of Faith Conferences. Akin to the Evangelical Christian men's movement known as Promise Keepers, these Women of Faith conferences packed stadiums and other meeting places as leading Christian women delivered messages of hope, joy and spiritual struggle to bolster the emotional and spiritual needs of the women in attendance. The theme of these conferences was ""The Joyful Journey,"" and here Clairmont, Johnson, Meberg and Swindoll, all popular speakers and writers in Evangelical Christian circles, offer a collection of their testimonies from these meetings. Using road signs as metaphors for the spiritual guideposts along their lives' journeys, the writers share the struggles and joys of being a Christian woman in a modern world. For example, in the section titled ""Under Construction,"" women are reminded that their spiritual walk with God is always being built with Bible study and prayer. In a lighthearted and friendly style, these writers share their personal stories of faith in God and the joy they have found in their faith. (Feb.)
