Intersections: The Sycamore Hill Anthology

Workshops comprised of professional writers have played a significant role in science fiction for nearly half a century. This fascinating anthology contains the stories that emerged from one such event, the 1994 Sycamore Hill Writers' Conference (founded by the editors), as well as much of the commentary that arose during the group's bull sessions. The 14 writers represented include, among others, Bruce Sterling, Nancy Kress, Jonathan Lethem, Carol Emshwiller, Alexander Jablokov and Karen Joy Fowler, whose ``The Marianas Islands'' is the collection's standout. Also in the book are reflections on, and guidelines for, workshopping, including a bare-bones version of the famous ``Turkey City Lexicon: A Primer for SF Workshops.'' (Jan.)
