I Eat Dinner
Margery Facklam. Little Brown and Company, $6.95 (16pp) ISBN 978-0-316-27374-9
In each of these books, a red-headed child proudly states ""I go to sleep'' or ``I eat dinner'' and then tells how it differs from the way animals eat or sleep: ``Not like . . . a turtle in a shell, and not like a cat who sleeps anywhere. I go to sleep in a bed, after a story and a hug. Good night.'' Gentle books, these are aimed at the youngest child, just becoming familiar with the idea of self and surroundings as something different from other worlds. The concept has been explored in other books, of course, but these are pleasant fare. Ages 1-5. (October)
