“Worst. Day. Ever.” becomes “Best. Day. Ever.” with the discovery of a library in this relatable book spotlighting the institution’s communal aspects. Whiskered rodent Piper Waterstone adores reading so much that she “would not, could not, share her books.” And to keep them safe, she carts the beloved stories everywhere: “Through spring, summer, fall, and winter, her books were never out of her sight.” Piper’s collection eventually grows unwieldy, and cinematic artwork shows the youth struggling to transport the load, culminating in a rainy-day bicycle crash. Enter a “kindly mole”—a librarian in a dapper suit who introduces Piper to the library, challenging her passion for personal ownership and offering a sharing lesson that the bibliophile eventually embraces.
