Baby-Sit

Two siblings and their dog spend an evening with the baby-sitter in this lift-the-flap book. As the parents drive off, those left at home proceed to have fun with activities that include hide-and-seek and painting. The flaps nicely advance the story's action, as when the children are getting ready for bed. A page that reads ``Big splash!'' shows the two undressing in front of the tub; lift the flap and the youngsters gleefully play in their bath. Though the book doesn't show the baby-sitter wrestling the children into bed (their parents come home in time to take care of this task), Stott's drawings are amusing and Miranda's story offers reluctant children reassurance that baby-sitters aren't so bad after all.
