HOORAY FOR HANUKKAH!

A family's menorah chronicles the day-by-day celebration of the holiday in this sweet-natured paper-over-board story. Manushkin (Daughters of Fire) mentions latkes, chocolate coins, etc., in what seems to be a standard-issue presentation—until the eighth night, when, movingly, she writes, "My brave light pushes the darkness away. That's what Hanukkah is all about." Croll (The Great Easter Egg Hunt) enhances the tale with an early 1900s setting. Ages 5-8. (Aug.)
