What Goes Round Comes Round

An eccentric, sneaker-wearing grandmother confirms the truth of the title in this endearing story, illustrated with two-color cartoony pictures. As Isabel's mom explains, Grandma Rose does not have much, but ``if she's got it, she has to give some away.'' Thus the bighearted woman makes generous batches of soup for her hungry friends. One day when her mom is in bed with the flu, Isabel accompanies her grandmother as she delivers soup to a vivacious grocer, an artist with purple hair, a toothless storekeeper and his invalid wife, and a goodnatured dance instructor. The bag that held the soup is heavier when they finish their rounds than when they began, as each recipient has given them something. Isabel, in turn, promises to paint pictures for one and all, proving that she has learned an important lesson--and readers of all ages will, too. Ages 4-8. (Oct.)
