Just a Minute
Anita Harper. Putnam Publishing Group, $9.95 (28pp) ISBN 978-0-399-21461-5
In their second collaboration, Harper and Hellard (It's Not Fair!) use not only the same kangaroo family from their first book but also the same literary device. Just as in that book, the kangaroo heroine gripes about somethingin this case, all the times grownups have put her off for ""just a minute!'' She turns the tables and declares, ``Just a minute!'' when the adults want her to do their bidding. The turnaround idea was fresher the first time, but this remains an appealing story. The softly colored pictures are warm and witty, as is the depiction of family life. Ages 1-6. (October)
