Sadie’s Highlander: Highland Protector, Book 1
Maeve Greyson. Loveswept, $4.99 e-book (300p) ISBN 978-0-399-59483-0
In Greyson’s slightly absurd first Highland Protector time travel romance, a Scottish warrior and a film producer set the sheets ablaze. In the 10th century, the druid clan MacDara has been charged by the ancient goddesses with guarding the Heartstone. When a battle goes awry and the MacDaras seem likely to lose, leaving the Heartstone unprotected, they are transported by the goddesses to 21st-century North Carolina, where they set up Highland Life and Legends, a Scottish historical theme park. Alec MacDara, CEO of the park, meets with sisters Delia and Sadie Williams, who want to film a Scottish historical romance there for Delia’s production company. Alex approves—as long as Sadie agrees to stay there as his assistant for the duration of the filming. Charming emails are quickly followed by mutual physical attraction as they spend time in each other’s company. Sadie is a likable, believable character who has been belittled by her sister for her weight and dislike of casual sex. Once Alec wins her heart, she’s happy to jump into bed with him, and their sexual encounters heat up the pages. With scintillating sex and plenty of romantic angst, this novel is likely to appeal to those who like their romance on the hot side. (Sept.)
