Unholy Angels
Kate Gallison. Dell Publishing Company, $5.99 (272pp) ISBN 978-0-440-22220-0
Gallison's trademark oddball characters, tied together in her smooth style, reappear again in a third Mother Lavinia Grey mystery (after Devil's Workshop). Episcopalian vicar Mother Vinnie has her hands full as she deals with the problems of St. Bede's parishioners, Little League baseball, the murders of two prominent citizens, and constant chaos in Fisherville, N.J. A goodly amount of the chaos comes from the natural eccentricities of the townsfolk. As Mother Vinnie describes a few of them getting into a minivan, ""It was like watching a group of vegetables climb into a pressure cooker and pull the lid down after themselves."" There's tons of fun to be had between the covers of this book. However, in order to enjoy this installment to the fullest, readers are advised to first read previous titles in the series. (Sept.)
