Wait for Me

Three years after his presumed death at sea, Gray Falconer returns to Scotland to claim his sizable inheritance and his intended bride, eccentric wannabe-inventor Minerva Arbuckle. Someone still wants him dead, however, and that someone could be either Porteous, Minerva's artist father, or his religious fanatic uncle, Cadzow. Set in 1837, this latest historical romance from popular, prolific Cameron (Dear Stranger) is a hodge-podge of bizarre characters, unpleasant, kinky sexual encounters (one with a paintbrush--don't ask!) and tedious, pace-slowing dialogue. Along the way, a good romance got lost, and a plot with excellent potential never quite lives up to its promise. Avoid this. (Dec.)
