Troubled by her past, Cressida finds it impossible to embrace the future. A decade earlier, she had a terrifying premonition on the very day her parents were killed in a car accident; after their death she was sent to live with her harsh aunt and spiteful cousin. There she was framed for stealing class mates' possessions and expelled from school. When she moves in with her half-brother Alaric and his wife Brenda, Cressida is determined to make a fresh start. However, she is haunted by more premonitions, and once again accused of stealing. Feeling confused and helpless, Cressida turns to her friend Larry who helps her untangle the mystery in which she is unwittingly involved. This is an intriguing, suspenseful novel. Holland creates a solid mystery with credible characters and plot. Ages 12-up. (Feb.)
