In the fourth and final Cavanaugh Brothers contemporary (after Brash), set in tiny River Black, Tex., Wright brings the series to a satisfying conclusion. In the first volume it was revealed that ranch hand Blue Perez is the half-sibling of the three Cavanaugh brothers, but they’re not willing to share ownership of the Triple C Ranch (which supposedly has cattle, though they never appear on the page). Despite Blue’s troubles, Emily Shiver is nothing but grateful when he comes to her defense at the local bar. Though she tries to resist the chaos that is the hallmark of the Triple C, she is drawn to the heart of a decades-old mystery that still threatens to destroy the Cavanaugh family. The brothers are desperate to find the culprit behind the death of their sister, and they put Emily at risk as they draw closer to the truth. Wright provides a dramatic wrapup to her fast-paced series. Her warm characters, who cherish family above all else, are the rightful heart of this adventure.
