I Forgot: Story and Pictures
Sucie Stevenson. Orchard Books (NY), $0 (32pp) ISBN 978-0-531-05744-5
Arthur is such an adorable character (he's an extraordinarily expressive young platypus) that readers will be immediately drawn to this volume. Arthur has a problem: he's extremely forgetful. He forgets in the morning (when he leaves the house without washing his face), at school (where his friend Nancy constantly shows him up) and at night (when he goes to bed without remembering to eat his supper). There is one thing he doesn't forget, though, and that's his mother's birthday. And from all the festivities, it's clear that Mom loves her son just the way he is. But at the end of the book, Arthur's problem remains unresolved, which for some readers will detract from the story. A Richard Jackson Book. Ages 4-6. (March)
