Darth Vader: A 3-D Reconstruction Log
Daniel Wallace, illus. by Chris Trevas and Chris Reiff. Scholastic, $19.99 (24p) ISBN 978-0-545-31215-8
Star Wars fans can witness the evolution of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader by turning die-cut cardboard pages to reveal the piece-by-piece construction of his iconic mask, suit, and cybernetic components. The format is akin to Star Wars: Millennium Falcon—A 3-D Owner’s Guide (2010), though admittedly creepier when it’s being employed to dissect a man. Purportedly drawn from the memory logs of the droids responsible for Vader’s transformation, the book’s detailed notes, sidebars, diagrams, graphs, and film stills should give fans the feeling that they’re getting an insider’s perspective on the making of a villain. Ages 8–up. (Sept.)
