The Super Camper Caper
John Himmelman. Silver Press, $4.95 (0pp) ISBN 978-0-671-69640-5
The Wrights, a clan of enterprising beavers, return in these additions to the Fix-it Family series. In the first book, papa Orville rolls out the ``super camper'' complete with ``super rubber tires'' and ``comfy cots.''. The beavers enjoy a fun country get-away until son Alexander wanders off, and it starts to pour. Teamwork and Orville's clever transformation of the camper into a rescue boat save the day. The second title finds the family entering the county carrot contest. Each beaver concentrates on one of four judging areas: Willa tries to grow the most orangy carrot; using speakers, Graham teaches his carrots to be the crunchiest; etc. When the Wrights discover that their youngest, Belle, has no special plan for her carrot, they secretly give it some assistance--to prize-winning effect. Himmelman's text is simple and lively, and the silly plot situations are perfect outlets for his humor. Nothing wrong with these Wrights, who are cheery and energetic while exuding the warmth of strong family ties. Ages 4-8. (Mar.)
