This Little Nose

In her previous Baby BooksDad's Back, Messy Baby, Reading and SleepingOrmerod introduced a beguiling baby, a loving father and an attentive black-and-white cat. This time it's Mom, expecting another child, who lovingly shares the spotlight with her first child, now a curious toddler. In Bend and Stretch, Mom is doing gentle exercises, until the child grows impatient and joins her, with the cat looking on from a safe distance. The same humor and understanding are found in Making Friends, in which Mom, toddler and cat are making a stuffed doll. In This Little Nose, the child has caught a cold, and Mom and the cat (and the newly made doll) offer tender affection. Finally, Mom's Home with her shopping basket full of things for the unborn baby, the toddler, the cat and herself. This set expresses the same soft intimacy and gentle joy found in Ormerod's other Baby Books. Ages 2-4. (October)
