This revealing study provides numerous insights into the lives and careers of TV newswomen in the form of quotes from celebrities and lesser-knowns in the field. Paisner ( Theo and Me ) interviews stars like Jane Pauley, Lesley Stahl and Diane Sawyeras well as female anchors in Denver, San Francisco, Chicago, Detroit and elsewhereon such subjects as the way it was for pioneer women on the tube, what demands are made of women but not of men and how females cope with sexism and pregnancy. He follows six anchorwomen, among them Chere Avery of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Connie Chung of NBC-TV, through their typical days, showing the challenges unique to each and those that are common to all.
