Somebody's Sleepy
Paul Rogers. Atheneum Books, $10.95 (18pp) ISBN 978-0-689-31491-9
Two companion books explore small moments in daily life; in the first, a tired boy, referred to as ``Somebody'' by his parents, denies that he needs to go to bed, but can't keep his eyes awake long enough for his mother even to begin a story. In the second, the parents hear noises downstairs and wonder what their son is up to. He arrives with a morning cup of tea for them, which looks like tea leaves spooned into cold tap water. Corfield's watercolors are looser and more contemporary in style than his work in Tumbledown , this pair's first collaboration. Both books are soothing and quiet in mood, but they are of marginal interest. Ages 3-5. (Mar.)
