PW highly recommended both of these novels by the two-time Newbery Medalist--the first, ""a grand performance,"" describes a boy who looks forward to the perks of his mother's remarriage to a wealthy man but who must first spend a month with his father, who entertains at shopping malls; the second is a ""brilliantly sustained"" mystery about a kidnapped daughter reunited with her family after 17 years.
