At My House
Margaret Miller. T.Y. Crowell Junior Books, $3.95 (1pp) ISBN 978-0-694-00276-4
To what many may consider a plethora of books in a similar format, Miller introduces her versions of board books featuring color photographs that depict familiar objects. The photographs are clear, sharply focused and vivid; that is more than can be said for the organizing principles governing the series. Each book has a theme, but babies and toddlers may be hard pressed to make the appropriate connections. At My House , for example, depicts a dog, a cat, a chair, a telephone, keys, a watch, a bird, a flower, a stroller, a potty, a television, a crayon, scissors and money. Perhaps if these objects were shown in the context of ``my house,'' their connection would be clearer. In another example, the first picture in Me and My Clothes depicts an infant wearing a diaper, but all of the clothes presented on the pages that follow are suitable for toddlers and preschoolers only. Ages 6 months-2 years. (Jan.)
