Baited Blood: A Madison Rose Vampire Mystery

Former waitress Madison Rose now works for the California Vampire Council in Jaffarian's smart sequel to 2010's Murder in Vein, but finding dead%E2%80%94or undead%E2%80%94vampire bodies in the swimming pool of the Topanga Canyon home of her vampire friends, the Dedhams, isn't in the job description. Since most cops don't know vampires exist, Madison's LAPD detective friend, Mike Notchey, can't do much through normal channels, so much of the sleuthing falls to Madison. Is this the work of Annabelle Fogle, a seductive and dangerous vampire with a grudge, or is someone attacking the council? Through refreshingly intelligent investigative work, Madison arrives at some conclusions that may lead to the truth, but along the way she must also deal with some difficult personal issues. Dark humor, edgy suspense, and an appealing cast of characters will leave readers anxiously awaiting the next book. (Sept.)
