Time for Bed

With his characteristically bright palette, Horacek combines pencil, paint, and collage to walk readers through the steps leading up to a boy’s bedtime. Wooden blocks sit on the floor in the opening spread (“Time to play”); on the following pages, they join other toys in a box (“Time to put away my toys”). As readers move through eating, washing up, and teeth-brushing, graduated pages die-cut with gently curving edges combine to create a quilt of many colors for the sleeping boy on the final spread.
