Look Good, Feel Great Cookbook
Jenny Jones, . . Wiley, $24.95 (212pp) ISBN 978-0-7645-9958-3
Former talk-show host Jones explains "superfoods" to readers unfamiliar with famously antioxidant- and micronutrient-rich foods such as blueberries, fish, garlic, pumpkin and spinach. She offers her readers recipes for fairly healthful, if uninspired, American comfort foods, including Blueberry Pancakes, Chicken Soup, Bean Salad, and Mixed Berry Cobbler; and introduces some new dishes, like the ill-named Prostate Pasta. Elementary, obvious content is also evident in subsections like "My Terms and Techniques Explained," where Jones guides readers to "Read the recipes first"; in the list of "Ten Kitchen Tools I Can't Live Without, Okay... Twenty," she includes a food processor and cutting board. Jones did her own food photography and talks readers through that as well ("By turning the plate to the exact right spot, I got the nice reflections that you see"). Perhaps fans of Jones's talk show will appreciate the author's personal, chatty style.
