Sandpiper Cove: A Hope Harbor Novel
Irene Hannon. Revell, $15.99 trade paper (352p) ISBN 978-0-8007-2768-0
Returning to Hope Harbor for a third time, Hannon brings back familiar characters but focuses on Police Chief Lexie Graham and Adam Stone, an ex-convict first introduced in Sea Rose Lane. Lexie, a widow with a young son, returns to her hometown after years of overseas assignments for the State Department. Adam has found work and a church but few friends, until Lexie pulls him over for speeding. When a couple of teenage vandals disturb the tranquility of this seaside town, the pair becomes an unlikely team determined to return one of the hooligans to the straight and narrow. In an unusual move for an inspirational romance, Hannon fixates on the physical attraction between the couple. A more meaningful connection remains stalled by Lexie’s deep-seated guilt and Adam’s insecurities and self-doubt. Adam fears his good fortune will only be temporary, but Hope Harbor remains a place of restoration and healing, even for those who consider themselves unredeemable. This quaint tale will surely be a favorite for Hannon’s faithful fans. (Apr.)
