Sleeping Beauty

The Les Petits Fairytales series expands with this ultra-terse version of Sleeping Beauty. No magic curses in this retelling: “Fairies” deliver “Magic Gifts” when the “Princess” is born, and years later the “Spinning Wheel” works its magic, leading to “Bed” and “Sleep.” After “100 Years,” though, a “Kiss” from a “Prince” leads to “Joy” and a “Party.” Like the other books in the series, it’s an economical blend of crisp artwork and bare-bones storytelling.
