Like Grace for the Moment, this Lucado gift book is comprised of excerpts from the Gold Medallion winner's previous bestsellers. Despite the lack of original content, the book works surprisingly well as a cohesive whole, with Lucado's gentle and imaginative words setting the Nativity scene. The opening section describes events from the perspective of "the ones who knew him first," offering the possible thoughts of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the wise men. Lucado then expounds on God's love as revealed in the birth of Christ. The presentation is simple and elegant, with art that enhances his reflections rather than overpowering them. (Oct. 9)
