OOPS a Daisy
Colin Hawkins, Jacqui Hawkins. Grove/Atlantic, $2.95 (0pp) ISBN 978-0-87113-086-0
Big Bear and Little Bear play action games in this four-book set: in Oops they touch eyes, ears, nose, hands and knees before bouncing on a mattress and yelling ""Oops-a-daisy.'' Dip is a bathtub game: ``Dip, dip, dip, / my blue ship, / sailing on the water, / like a cup and saucer, / dip, dip dip, / drippety drip.'' One Finger is a game about getting into bed, and Where's Bear is a little like hide-and-seek. Children should enjoy the accompanying actions to these games, demonstrated by Big Bear, who is really a baby bear, and Little Bear, his toy-like friend. They are a winsome pair, and perhaps young readers will learn the games with parents and then try to reenact them with their own toys. However, the books are ordinary, and may grow old after an initial reading. (6 months-3 years)
