Golf: Tours & Detours
Lawrence Levy, Brian D. Morgan. Elsevier Science & Technology, $24.95 (160pp) ISBN 978-0-88162-362-8
The text by golf photographers Levy and Morgan is secondary to the hundreds of outstanding color photographs in this handsome volume; indeed, much of the written material is simply captions. The main section offers shots of the leading players on the tour from older golfers like Arnold Palmer and Gary Player through stars like Jack Nicklaus to such relative newcomers as Sandy Lyle and Nick Faldo, all shown at moments of triumph and defeat. That emphasis leads to the second section, ""Hits and Misses,'' which records players' reactions to their best and worst shots. Women get their fair share of coverage, too. The shots around the tour show caddies, some of the more bizarre spectators, officials and such celebrities as Nancy Reagan, Jack Lemmon and, of course, Bob Hope. Links fans will be impressed by the book. (May)
