Microwave Cooking for One or Two
Pat Jester. Putnam Publishing Group, $4.95 (80pp) ISBN 978-0-89586-244-0
While the 100 tested recipes in this book contain little that is particularly innovative, Jester, author of the bestselling Microwave Cookbook, has still made a useful contribution. There's a brief explanation of how to use a microwave oven, then she introduces such appetizers as TV mix italiano, nachos and tuna snack sandwiches, which may be quickly whipped up. More nutritious fare includes baked barbecue pork ribs, hot shrimp luncheon salad and New England clam chowder. Desserts feature hot chocolate and fudge sauces, an area in which the microwave excells. While the recipes are intended to serve one or two people, they may be easily doubled for guests. (July)
