All about Bulbs
Cynthia Scheer, Alvin Horton. Ortho Books, $9.95 (96pp) ISBN 978-0-89721-050-8
In the first half of this book, Horton and McNair give general information on the care and availability of true bulbs as well as ""relatives'' with the same storage system (corms, tubers, rhizomes). The second part of the book is a directory with specific instructions for acquiring and caring for many varieties of both well-known and rare species. A map of the United States accompanies notes on each plant's needs, its ability to tolerate different climates, its light requirements, etc. From Achimenes through Zantedeschia aethiopica, the flowers are listed according to botanical name, and the index contains familiar names also, making for a handy cross-reference.
