Daddy Depot
Chana Stiefel, illus. by Andy Snair. Feiwel and Friends, $17.99 (40p) ISBN 978-1-250-05889-8
In this tongue-in-cheek story, an embarrassed girl named Lizzie drags her father to the Daddy Depot to check out alternatives (the premise echoes that of Sanne Miltenburg’s recent The Daddy Store). The selections at the store include a Rocker Dad surrounded by bodyguards and a Chef Dad who prepares mashed liver and sardines. No surprise, Lizzie comes to realize that the perfect father for her is the goofy, football-watching model she already has. Snair’s (Raisin and Grape) punchy ink-and-digital artwork echoes Stiefel’s sentiment, offering visual reminders of how this father and daughter are a perfect match. Ages 2–5.
