Bestseller Keeland (The Unraveling) reworks her self-published 2017 novel Sex, Not Love, into this emotionally satisfying, red-hot contemporary romance. Natalia “Nat” Rossi’s ex-husband is in prison for running a Ponzi scheme, leaving Nat with custody of his 15-year-old daughter, Izzy. So when Nat meets brash architectural engineer Hunter Delucia at her best friend’s wedding, she’s not in the market for a relationship—and makes that clear by giving him several wrong numbers, including her mother’s, when he playfully propositions her. The scheme backfires when Nat’s mother invites Hunter over for dinner, hoping to set up him and Nat. Eventually, Nat agrees to a no strings attached sexual relationship. This works out for Hunter, who has long eschewed romantic entanglements for a serious reason he keeps close to his chest. But as feelings grow on both sides, he must come clean about his life-changing secret. It’s easy to root for endearingly cocky Hunter and understandably cautious Nat to make things work. Keeland does a great job balancing angst and heat, keeping the pages turning through believable emotional conflict and steamy sex scenes. Readers won’t be able to resist. (Mar.)
