Lady Grace Ferguson is a loyal wife to Alastair Ferguson, following his wishes even when he asks her to help him die after a horrific accident. Consumed with guilt and convinced she has to atone for her sin, Grace decides to join a convent. Hoping to stop her, her brother gives Ewan Gilroy permission to court her. Ewan is a charming rogue, and when he starts his campaign to change her mind, Grace is torn between temptation and penance. Ewan refuses to give up when he wants something, and he's decided Grace would be the perfect wife. Ewan is not an archetypal tough Highlander but a romantic, happy to spend time with his intended and hopeful about falling in love. Grace needs Ewan to protect her from an enemy bent on vengeance, but the threat is too absurd to be believable. Grace and Ewan are joyous together, but there is nothing riveting about this saccharine romance as it plods toward fulfilling every single one of Grace's hopes and dreams. (July)
