In Konrath's latest Jack Daniels thrill- er, Tequila Abernathy is a collector for lo- cal bookie "Marty the Maniac," who al- ways manages to get along with his vola- tile boss. That is, until several million dollars of Marty's money go missing and Tequila is framed for the theft. Now Marty is putting all of his resources into retrieving his cash and killing Tequila. But Tequila isn't so easy to dispatch, and soon he's out for vengeance himself. In addition to Marty and his army of thugs, Tequila must contend with Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels, the determined homicide detective who wants to catch him and curb the rapidly growing body count. It will be clear to listeners that narrator Luke Daniels had a great time recording this action-packed thriller. He keeps the story moving at breakneck speed, while at the same time bringing to life the book's diverse cast of characters%E2%80%94especially good are his renditions of the multilayered Tequila and Daniels.
